You will own the control plane that ties together SimSpace's internet simulation layers. Your work involves designing the external API, managing event-driven coordination across subsystems, and ensuring reliable state management in a multi-tenant environment.
The team builds the deployment and operational model for a Kubernetes-native product. You will collaborate with network simulation leads and SREs to define upgrade paths, scaling strategies, and observability standards for complex range deployments.
What you'll do
- Design the control plane API for range orchestration and scenario management
- Build event-driven orchestration layers to coordinate multi-step operations
- Maintain persistent storage primitives for services and subsystems
- Own Kubernetes operators and controllers for platform lifecycle management
- Define state models for failure recovery and system convergence
- Collaborate on in-range proxy agent architecture and connectivity
- Partner with SREs to establish runbooks and observability instrumentation
What you'll need
- Experience building backend systems from scratch using Kotlin and Spring Boot
- Strong API design skills focused on reliability and consistency
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, consistency, and failure modes
- Experience with event-driven or message-driven system architectures
- Expertise in Kubernetes, including writing operators and managing custom resources
- Ability to design storage systems across file, object, and container paradigms
- Operational rigor in instrumenting systems and writing runbooks
Nice to have
- Experience with air-gapped or on-premises Kubernetes deployments
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps workflows
