Join Vultr as a Senior Engineer to lead the design and implementation of next-generation cloud networking services. You will work on VPC, security groups, gateways, and routing domains, driving both control and data plane features. This cross-functional role requires building the networking foundation for Vultr's global infrastructure while supporting production systems and incident response.
What you'll do
- Design technical solutions for VPC, security groups, gateways, and routing domains
- Implement control and data plane features along with network orchestration
- Manage BGP peering, tenant isolation, and network policy enforcement services
- Prototype and validate new networking capabilities at scale
- Support production systems and participate in incident response
- Extend the control plane to integrate new networking features
What you'll need
- At least five years in infrastructure, network engineering, or hosting
- Experience with virtual networking, SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN
- Strong knowledge of BGP, L2/L3 routing, Linux, and Kubernetes networking
- Proficiency in Go or Rust programming languages
- Experience with network automation and observability tools
- Clear communication skills across engineering and leadership teams
Nice to have
- Familiarity with PHP and SQL
- Experience with high-performance networking hardware like DPUs or SmartNICs
- Background in legacy system modernization
- Experience in network security or multi-tenant firewalls
- Previous work at a cloud provider or hyperscaler

How you'll work
- Fully remote position
- $500 first year remote office setup allowance
- $400 annual equipment allowance thereafter
