Join LiveKit as a Senior Engineer working on the foundational layers of a platform that powers billions of multimodal AI interactions annually. You will design and evolve core control, data, and observability systems, ensuring high availability and low latency for global users.
This position involves solving complex technical challenges where infrastructure is the product. You will collaborate with a small, senior team to ship resilient, region-spanning architectures directly into production.
What you'll do
- Design and evolve core control, data, and observability systems for LiveKit Cloud
- Implement resilient architectures that handle partial failures gracefully
- Build libraries and tooling to improve reliability and developer velocity
- Diagnose and harden critical paths using metrics, tracing, and testing
- Shape platform capabilities in identity, scheduling, and state management
What you'll need
- Experience designing and delivering distributed systems in production
- Ability to take ownership from prototyping to monitoring and iteration
- Comfortable with consensus, coordination, and distributed failure modes
- Strong understanding of data flow, state, performance, and correctness
- Clear communication skills and practical engineering mindset
Nice to have
- Fluency in Go or strong intent to learn it quickly
- Experience with pub/sub, RPC, or coordination systems like NATS or Raft
- Background in real-time or low-latency infrastructure
- Experience shipping useful observability tooling at scale
