You will join the Home Energy team to develop software that orchestrates residential energy assets like EVs, heat pumps, and solar inverters. Your work involves building robust integrations with OEM cloud platforms and evolving the API surface to enable smart charging and energy optimization for utility customers.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain integrations with OEM cloud platforms for batteries, solar, and HVAC.
- Design and evolve home energy APIs to unify telemetry and device controls.
- Use AI tools daily to enhance productivity and share learned techniques with the team.
- Improve observability and vendor performance across all system integrations.
- Collaborate with partnership teams to assess API feasibility for new device manufacturers.
- Debug and ship production features while balancing speed, quality, and customer impact.
What you'll need
- Experience building and maintaining backend services in production environments.
- Proficiency with AI tools in daily engineering workflows and problem-solving.
- Strong skills in designing systems for reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Ability to own projects from initial scoping through to production rollout.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating structure in fast-moving teams.
- Clear communication skills across engineering, product, and commercial departments.
Nice to have
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, or TimescaleDB.
- Familiarity with home energy assets like batteries, solar inverters, or smart meters.
- Prior exposure to API-first products or integration platforms.
- Experience with on-call rotations or incident response procedures.
