Join the Observability Team at NetBox Labs to develop critical components for network automation. You will work on projects like Orb, Diode, and pktvisor, delivering solutions for network discovery, reconciliation, and monitoring.
The team builds both open source and commercial software, aiming to simplify the management of complex networks. You will collaborate with product owners, the core NetBox team, and the wider community to create robust observability tooling.
What you'll do
- Develop idiomatic Go services for network observability and monitoring
- Design and implement protobuf APIs using gRPC and Connect RPC
- Manage data persistence with PostgreSQL migrations and Redis caching
- Build multi-tenant systems with OAuth2/OIDC and event-driven architectures
- Integrate OpenTelemetry for deep instrumentation and observability
- Utilize coding agents daily while ensuring code correctness and security
- Write technical specifications with diagrams to align stakeholders
- Collaborate with product owners and the platform team on integration
What you'll need
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in writing idiomatic Go code
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, devices, and layers
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and RabbitMQ
- Proficiency in building multi-tenant and event-driven systems
- Solid understanding of OpenTelemetry and observability principles
- Excellent communication skills for technical documentation
Nice to have
- 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Familiarity with MQTT, IoT protocols, or gNMI
- Production experience with Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Django, NetBox, or NetBox plugins
- Ability to write tests and tooling in Python
