Join the Pricing squad at tem, where you will engineer the core pricing engine for RED, a modern utility product. You will design and ship components of the new Pricing API, ensuring prices for energy contracts are fast, accurate, and explainable for business customers and renewable generators.
What you'll do
- Design and ship core components of the new Pricing API from concept to production
- Consolidate pricing logic into a single service with clear boundaries
- Build detection and alerting systems to catch incorrect or slow prices
- Provide commercial teams with tools to diagnose unpriceable scenarios
- Optimize system performance to reduce time-to-quote for customers
- Handle live pricing incidents and implement structural fixes
What you'll need
- Proven experience shipping and maintaining backend Python APIs in production
- Proficiency with FastAPI, SQL, and data-heavy systems requiring numerical correctness
- Product-minded approach to engineering, focusing on user value and clarity
- Daily use of AI agents like Claude for coding, testing, and review workflows
- Ability to own projects end-to-end with minimal supervision
Nice to have
- Domain knowledge in fintech, energy pricing, neo-utilities, or ad-tech
- Experience collaborating with machine learning teams
- Familiarity with AWS serverless patterns such as Lambda and event-driven services
- Experience with Polars or optimizing numerical code performance
