Join the Consumer team at Kraken to build applications that simplify crypto access for millions of users. You will define technical direction for customer-facing Rust services, handling everything from architectural decisions to end-to-end feature delivery.
This role requires a product-minded engineer who can break down complex problems, mentor mid-level colleagues, and drive cross-team initiatives. You will leverage AI tools extensively to accelerate development and validate implementations while maintaining high standards for user experience.
What you'll do
- Own architecture and delivery of customer-facing Rust backend services
- Translate ambiguous multi-quarter problems into shipped and measured solutions
- Drive features end-to-end including frontend impact and product definition
- Partner with product leadership to shape roadmaps and own outcome metrics
- Lead cross-team initiatives requiring technical alignment and relationship building
- Mentor engineers and establish patterns to improve future development speed
- Use AI extensively to orchestrate coding tasks and validate implementations
What you'll need
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Rust proficiency
- Expertise in network services, async code, and distributed systems design
- Proven track record of owning systems and making production architectural decisions
- Product engineering mindset with experience shipping features to user impact
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others and set technical standards
- Experience driving work across teams where alignment is key
- Active use of AI in daily workflow for coding and understanding codebases
Nice to have
- Full-stack experience with React or TypeScript
- Knowledge of cryptocurrency or blockchain domains
- Experience scaling products at consumer-focused tech companies
- Background in introducing AI tooling to engineering teams
