You will architect and maintain the resilient infrastructure powering Kong's fastest-growing SaaS offering. This dual-focus role involves leading a team of SREs to ensure platform stability while serving as the primary technical authority for enterprise customers during onboarding and implementation.
You will handle complex, multi-cloud topologies and turn unique customer setups into production-ready deployments. By feeding real-world patterns back to Product, you will help shape the roadmap while ensuring high availability and performance for global clients.
What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of Site Reliability Engineers for Managed Gateways
- Architect scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native systems using Kubernetes and Go
- Own the operational lifecycle including monitoring, incident response, and post-mortems
- Implement automation and self-service tooling to streamline gateway management
- Define and track SLOs and SLIs to ensure optimal service reliability
- Partner with enterprise customers to drive end-to-end onboarding and implementation
- Translate complex customer topologies into repeatable playbooks and platform features
- Serve as the technical escalation point for Customer Success on complex accounts
What you'll need
- Extensive experience as an SRE focusing on highly available distributed systems
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures
- Proficiency in Golang or similar modern languages for automation
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- In-depth knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
- Ability to work across multiple public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Strong ownership mindset treating reliability as a first-class feature
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment
Nice to have
- Experience with Service Mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd
- Familiarity with database administration for PostgreSQL or Cassandra
- Contributions to open-source SRE tools or projects
- Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or CKA
- Background in managed services, API gateways, or network infrastructure
