As a Senior Staff Cloud Platform Engineer, you will set the technical direction for Infrastructure Services. You will define architecture and standards that internal teams build upon, ensuring coherent evolution across compute, network, and stateful platforms. This hands-on leadership role requires balancing reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed while mentoring other engineers.
What you'll do
- Set multi-year technical strategy and architecture for Infrastructure Services
- Define patterns and standards for compute, network, and stateful services
- Serve as senior technical voice in cross-organization reviews
- Act as escalation point for major incidents and drive reliability improvements
- Lead cost, capacity, and efficiency strategy for cloud footprint
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and raise design review standards
What you'll need
- Experience setting technical direction across multiple teams or organizations
- Deep operational knowledge of Kubernetes at production scale (EKS preferred)
- Proficiency in Go and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Proven track record of improving reliability via SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
- Experience reducing cloud costs through engineering and automation
- Strong background in security practices like workload identity and least-privilege IAM
- Ability to influence without authority and resolve technical disagreements
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with service mesh like Linkerd or Amazon VPC Lattice
- Experience operating scalable databases such as MySQL, Postgres, or DynamoDB
- Background in designing developer platform abstractions and toolkits
- Experience building AI-assisted operations tools for auto-remediation
- History of operating highly available multi-region SaaS services
