Join a small, high-leverage team reporting to the co-founder to shape how Tailscale adopts AI-assisted development. You will build tools, define guardrails, and establish practices that allow engineers to ship code faster and more safely using modern AI agents.
What you'll do
- Define and drive the internal AI-enablement roadmap with leadership
- Build tools and workflows for engineers using AI coding agents
- Evaluate new models and decide which tools to adopt
- Establish guardrails and review practices for AI-generated code
- Measure impact of AI tooling on engineering velocity and quality
- Collaborate with the team building the Aperture AI gateway
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Daily hands-on fluency with modern AI coding tools
- Experience building internal tools or developer automation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to teach and influence engineers on AI adoption
- Comfort with ambiguity and self-directed prioritization
Nice to have
- Background in developer experience or platform engineering
- Experience evaluating or benchmarking LLMs and coding agents
- Proficiency in Go or Rust alongside Python
- Knowledge of security or code-review practices
- Experience in developer relations or technical evangelism
- Technical project management experience
