Join Quilter's File I/O team to bridge the gap between their automated PCB design engine and industry-standard CAD software. You will work on parsing and translating complex, often undocumented formats into Quilter's internal model using Python.

The team emphasizes mastering AI agent workflows, allowing you to build harnesses for reverse-engineering tasks and automate integration work. You will own features end-to-end, from design to rollout, while developing skills in prompting and context engineering.

What you'll do

  • Build and extend integrations with CAD vendor file formats and scripting systems
  • Reverse-engineer proprietary binary and text-based formats with senior support
  • Help shape the internal PCB representation for new tool support
  • Write robust, well-tested code to handle messy real-world customer data
  • Use and build agent-powered workflows for CAD reverse engineering
  • Own features end-to-end including design, implementation, testing, and rollout

What you'll need

  • 3-7 years of software engineering experience with backend or systems work
  • Strong proficiency in Python and writing clean production code
  • Genuine interest in coding agents and desire to master them
  • Comfort with ambiguous problems and reverse-engineering undocumented formats
  • General knowledge of binary formats
  • Solid fundamentals in design, testing, and debugging
  • Strong communication skills and high ownership mindset

Nice to have

  • Basic knowledge of C or C++ for skimming SDKs
  • Familiarity with PCB, EDA, or CAD workflows
  • Experience with binary or large-scale serialization formats
  • Experience building tooling around coding agents
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure like AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Open-source contributions in developer tooling or simulation
