Realm applies artificial intelligence to mining infrastructure, using data from cameras and SCADA systems to predict failures and enhance safety. You will join a small, senior engineering team that ships daily to production environments, leveraging AI tools to accelerate development and maintain high code quality.
The role requires building backend services in TypeScript while contributing to applied AI, React frontends, and infrastructure. You will own features end-to-end, interact directly with users to understand operational needs, and collaborate closely with leadership to shape the engineering organization.
What you'll do
- Build and extend TypeScript backend services for real-time mining data
- Develop computer vision pipelines using AWS Rekognition, TensorFlow, and SAM3
- Integrate with industrial systems like SCADA and OPC-UA for equipment monitoring
- Contribute to React frontend components and infrastructure tasks as needed
- Deploy features to production multiple times per day via CI/CD
- Utilize LLMs for intelligent analysis and automation capabilities
- Interact with users to translate operational challenges into software features
What you'll need
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong foundation in CS fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
- Proficiency with agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor
- Comfort working across the stack including React, Kubernetes, and databases
- Ability to own features end-to-end with minimal direction
- Experience working effectively in a remote team environment
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident based in the US
Nice to have
- Previous startup experience and comfort with ambiguity
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript
- Familiarity with computer vision or ML inference pipelines
- Experience integrating with industrial or IoT systems
- Preference for functional programming styles and immutability
