You will own the desktop experience for Actai's proactive AI applications, ensuring high reliability and minimal prompting for users. The work involves optimizing performance, managing local state, and integrating AI features via backend APIs into a seamless desktop interface.

What you'll do
- Build and maintain cross-platform desktop apps using Electron
- Design responsive UIs for real-time collaboration features
- Implement native functionality like file access and notifications
- Integrate AI-powered chat and agent features via APIs
- Optimize startup time, memory usage, and runtime performance
- Profile and reduce Electron overhead for better efficiency
- Manage large local state and message history efficiently
- Ensure stability across macOS and Windows environments
What you'll need
- Proven software engineering experience in production roles
- Hands-on experience building production Electron applications
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with React or similar UI frameworks
- Solid understanding of desktop application lifecycle
- Experience with IPC communication mechanisms
- Work with local storage such as SQLite or IndexedDB
- Experience with WebSockets or real-time transport
- Strong debugging and performance profiling skills
- Familiarity with native OS behaviors on macOS or Windows
