Join the Core Edge Processing team to write and ship production code at the heart of Marqeta's processing systems. You will work on systems that route and authorize transactions across card networks, ensuring high availability and cryptographic security.
This hands-on position allows you to learn from senior engineers while managing well-scoped features and bug fixes end-to-end. You will gain operational fluency through on-call rotations and deepen your expertise in distributed systems and payment processing.
What you'll do
- Ship production code across the routing and processing stack
- Own features and bug fixes from design discussion to production
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
- Collaborate with senior engineers to expand technical scope
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in live payment systems
What you'll need
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience deploying and operating services in AWS
- Solid understanding of Java fundamentals
- Comfortable debugging production issues
- Strong communication skills and receptiveness to feedback
Nice to have
- Exposure to payment processing or card issuing concepts
- Familiarity with cryptography or key management
- Prior on-call or production-support experience
