You will own the application layer that translates provider data infrastructure into usable products for payers and health systems. This Staff-level position requires defining technical strategy, structuring frontend and backend evolution, and establishing engineering patterns for a growing team.
The work focuses on solving complex architectural challenges, such as maintaining frontend scalability, designing robust external APIs, and ensuring high performance as data volumes grow. You will drive technical direction without direct authority, influencing culture and practices through design and code.
What you'll do
- Define structure for application layer and API contracts for external consumers
- Design frontend architecture to scale with product complexity and team size
- Architect async workflow patterns like optimistic UI and real-time status updates
- Own performance boundary between data layer and product via caching and pagination
- Integrate AI capabilities with proper latency handling and fallback behaviors
- Influence engineering practices through design docs and technical mentorship
What you'll need
- 8+ years building production full-stack systems at Staff or Tech Lead level
- Deep backend expertise in Java or similar strongly-typed language
- Strong frontend architecture skills in React and TypeScript at scale
- Experience designing external-facing APIs with versioning and backward compatibility
- Fluency in REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets, and SSE paradigms
- Experience building enterprise B2B products with multi-tenancy and RBAC
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor or Claude Code
Nice to have
- Experience with microfrontend architectures or design system libraries
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards like FHIR or HL7
- Knowledge of feature flagging and A/B testing infrastructure
- Understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG
- Track record of reducing technical debt through iterative migration
