Assured modernizes the insurance industry by providing software solutions for claims processing and fraud detection. As a Staff Application Platform Engineer, you will design and optimize the internal platform that empowers engineering teams to build and deploy products with confidence.
You will abstract common patterns, resolve performance bottlenecks, and champion security best practices. This position requires leading projects end-to-end and collaborating across teams to enhance platform services and developer productivity.
What you'll do
- Elevate developer productivity by creating tools and abstracting common patterns
- Design and optimize the platform for security, reliability, and scalability
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across the technology stack
- Champion security measures to protect sensitive data at all times
- Improve system resilience and efficiency during rapid product growth
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement engineering best practices
- Own projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring quality and speed
- Expand platform services to support next-generation products
What you'll need
- At least 8 years of experience in platform or backend engineering
- Deep knowledge of TypeScript and experience with Node.js
- Proficiency with GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Proven ability to lead projects independently from architecture to production
- Strong communication skills to influence technical direction across teams
- Track record of building secure, reliable, and high-performance platforms
- Confidence in making strategic technical tradeoffs with company-wide impact
- Growth mindset with an ownership mentality for system improvements
