Join the core engineering team at Nango, a YC-backed company providing API access for AI agents and applications. You will own critical backend systems end-to-end, driving product roadmap and execution while collaborating directly with developer customers.
This role requires high ownership of key decisions and close interaction with the open-source community. You will shape how the platform evolves by building world-class interfaces and optimizing performance for hundreds of paying customers.
What you'll do
- Design and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for the open-source platform
- Build developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime environments
- Collaborate directly with customers to resolve specific integration challenges
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across all backend services
- Shape company strategy and product roadmap through high-ownership decision making
- Engage with the open-source community by maintaining and owning the repository
What you'll need
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience for staff level roles
- Proven ability to scale high-traffic systems and manage performance-critical infrastructure
- Deep expertise in developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and backend stacks
- Comfortable working with Node.js and modern backend technologies
- Strong communication skills and reliability in a remote-first work environment
- Product mindset with empathy for developer experience and best practices
- Autonomous and ownership-driven approach to navigating ambiguity in a startup
- Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe
