Join the SABR team at Constructor, where you will manage the top layer of request processing for product discovery. This includes handling autocomplete, search, and recommendations while orchestrating calls across internal ranking and retrieval services.
You will design public configuration APIs and maintain systems that serve up to 15k requests per second. The work requires balancing latency, cost, and backward compatibility while ensuring graceful degradation during failures.
What you'll do
- Own technical direction for service architecture, performance, and reliability
- Lead design and evolution of new and existing public APIs
- Mentor mid and senior engineers to expand their scope and skills
- Partner with product and support teams to define build priorities
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response efforts
What you'll need
- Substantial experience building high-traffic, low-latency backend services
- Extensive knowledge of Python as a primary language
- Experience with observability and performance tuning in live systems
- Proven track record designing public APIs for external customers
- Ability to lead projects spanning multiple engineers and quarters
- Strong written communication skills for design docs and RFCs
Nice to have
- Experience working with AWS infrastructure
- Background in search, ranking, or information retrieval
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-facing infrastructure like MCP
