As the first dedicated security hire, you will own the security program across the platform, infrastructure, and corporate environment. You will partner with the CTO to design secure cloud systems, manage compliance audits, and embed security practices into the engineering lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Architect and harden AWS environments including IAM, VPC, and EKS clusters
- Secure serverless data layers like Lambda, S3, and PostgreSQL with encryption
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code guardrails and manage secrets lifecycle
- Embed security into SDLC via threat modeling, SAST/DAST, and pipeline checks
- Establish AI usage policies and protect against LLM-specific vulnerabilities
- Lead SOC 2 Type I/II audits and maintain ongoing HIPAA compliance
- Manage endpoint security, identity access, and vendor risk programs
- Build logging, monitoring, and incident response capabilities for the platform
What you'll need
- 8+ years in security engineering with hands-on cloud experience
- Deep expertise in AWS security services and networking
- Experience securing PostgreSQL and sensitive data stores
- Strong background in application and API security practices
- Direct experience leading SOC 2 audits and HIPAA compliance
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Pulumi or CDK
- Knowledge of AI security and OWASP LLM Top 10 risks
- Proven ability to communicate risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with compliance automation platforms like Vanta or Drata
- Background in securing real-time video or WebRTC platforms
- Familiarity with HITRUST, ISO 27001, or NIST frameworks
- History of building security programs from scratch at startups
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Security Specialty or CISSP
- Experience handling pediatric or behavioral health data privacy
