Join Quora's highly empowered Data Team to influence product and company strategy through rigorous analysis and experimentation. You will work on the core Quora platform, tackling open-ended problems in user growth, content quality, and personalization while fostering a culture of rational decision-making.
What you'll do
- Own ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces from framing to solution implementation
- Partner with leadership to shape product strategy and anticipate challenges
- Design and evaluate experiments to measure product change impacts
- Analyze product data to uncover root causes of metric movements
- Develop tools and frameworks to improve organizational data literacy
- Mentor other data scientists and instill industry best practices
What you'll need
- Available during coordination hours: Mon-Fri 9am-3pm Pacific Time
- 7+ years in analytical roles, including 5+ as a Data Scientist
- Track record of success at senior or staff level scope and autonomy
- Expertise in statistical techniques like regression and causal inference
- Experience mentoring data scientists and improving team processes
- Ability to translate business needs into analytical questions
- Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and production code
Nice to have
- 2+ years evaluating recommender systems in offline and online settings
- Experience setting technical direction for a team or major workstream
- Familiarity with large datasets and distributed computing tools like Presto
- Active Quora user with curiosity about the product
