Join NexusOne as a Staff Data Engineer to shape the technical direction of our converged data platform. You will design large-scale, high-reliability systems and establish best practices for data modeling and observability across the organization.
This role requires partnering with engineering and product leaders to align infrastructure with business goals. You will mentor senior and mid-level engineers while evaluating new tools to improve scalability and developer velocity.
What you'll do
- Define technical architecture and long-term roadmap for the data platform
- Design large-scale, high-reliability data pipelines spanning multiple teams
- Set engineering standards for data modeling, testing, and observability
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to senior and mid-level engineers
- Evaluate new tools to improve scalability and developer velocity
- Partner with leadership to align data infrastructure with business priorities
- Lead root-cause analysis for complex cross-system data incidents
What you'll need
- 7+ years of professional data engineering experience
- Experience designing large-scale data systems end-to-end
- Deep expertise in SQL and Python, Scala, or Java
- Proven track record of setting technical direction across teams
- Extensive experience with cloud data platforms and warehousing
- Strong communication skills for technical strategy presentation
- Experience mentoring and developing other engineers
Nice to have
- Experience building platforms for analytics and machine learning
- Track record of leading major platform migrations
- Experience with streaming architectures and real-time processing
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and compliance
- Prior experience in Staff or Principal individual-contributor roles
