Join the Account Experience team at Primer, where you will build the platform merchants use to manage payments. As a Staff Engineer, you will define frontend strategy, shape the AI Companion interface, and ensure coherence across setup, monitoring, and workflow tools.
You will work hands-on with TypeScript and React while partnering with product and backend teams. This position requires setting architectural standards and mentoring engineers without direct authority, owning work from design through production.
What you'll do
- Set frontend technical strategy across multiple Account Experience teams
- Architect complex, data-dense merchant platforms and state management
- Shape frontend architecture for Primer AI Companion interface
- Build shared component and design-system foundations
- Lead engineers through code reviews and technical mentorship
- Own accessibility, performance budgets, and frontend observability
- Partner with Product, Design, and backend engineers on key decisions
What you'll need
- Experience operating at staff or principal engineering level
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and React for complex web apps
- Strong skills in state management, performance, and accessibility
- Ability to earn trust and lead without direct authority
- Comfort reasoning about APIs and backend services
- Strong written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders
- Discipline for remote-first work and strong async habits
