Join Andela’s Internal Product team as a Staff Fullstack Engineer to build the engine powering the global remote economy. You will drive the technical evolution of the proprietary Talent Cloud, focusing on matching logic, payments, and automated vetting within a Ruby on Rails environment.
This position requires a player-coach mindset, balancing high-level architectural vision with hands-on coding. You will collaborate across distributed teams to solve complex business problems and scale the platform using modern full-stack technologies.
What you'll do
- Lead architectural evolution of Ruby on Rails applications for scale and security
- Write high-quality code using Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend
- Optimize system performance by resolving bottlenecks like N+1 queries
- Mentor engineers and conduct rigorous code reviews to raise standards
- Translate product vision into technical roadmaps with stakeholders
What you'll need
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ in Ruby on Rails
- Expert knowledge of Ruby, Rails conventions, RSpec, and Sidekiq
- Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript, React, CSS, and HTML
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL or MySQL schema design and optimization
- Familiarity with AWS, Heroku, or GCP deployment using Docker and Kubernetes
- Exceptional English communication skills for distributed team collaboration
