You will own the models and data powering AtomEngine, Onebrief’s cloud-based simulation engine for military coordination. Your work ensures that simulations provide defensible answers by establishing credible formulas, documenting assumptions, and validating performance characteristics.
As a staff-level individual contributor, you set production workflows and mentor analysts while staying hands-on with research. You will partner with engineering to implement tooling and use AI agents to scale data entry and testing, focusing on analytical quality rather than software development.
What you'll do
- Define modeling standards and select credible sources for weapon and sensor effects
- Maintain a roadmap for catalog coverage across service branches and nations
- Design instructions and quality controls for AI agents and analysts
- Lead verification, validation, and accreditation processes for catalog segments
- Resolve contested modeling decisions with customers and subject matter experts
- Author standards and train analysts in research methods and AI workflows
What you'll need
- Experience in modeling, simulation, systems engineering, or operations research
- Ability to assess model credibility and explain quantitative judgments
- Proven track record of owning complex technical work and setting priorities
- Practical experience directing AI agents for research or analytical tasks
- Strong technical communication skills for working with customers and SMEs
- Investigative approach to finding model weaknesses through wargaming
Nice to have
- Familiarity with AFSIM or other military simulation environments
- Knowledge of military doctrine, force structure, or platform performance
- Experience with test automation, QA tooling, or version control
- Background in mentoring teams or establishing technical standards
