As the senior technologist in Data Modernization Services, you will own the reference architecture for landing EHR-anchored, AI-ready data foundations. You will serve as the engagement-embedded tech lead, guiding teams through 10-week greenfield projects to transform legacy healthcare data into modern lakehouses.
You will balance high-level architectural decisions with hands-on implementation, working directly with health system CTOs and leading a bench of specialist engineers. The role requires deep expertise in cloud data platforms and the ability to drive technical discovery and delivery in regulated environments.
What you'll do
- Own cross-platform reference architecture for Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric
- Serve as engagement-embedded tech lead for architecture and hands-on builds
- Lead technical discovery with health system partners to assess source environments
- Manage and mentor Senior Data Engineers and Cloud/Platform Engineers
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including IaC and security controls
- Partner with management to scope statements of work and manage technical risk
- Coordinate technical handoffs to enable AI workflow deployment
- Present technical narratives to CTOs and enterprise architects during pre-sales
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years in data engineering, platform architecture, or solutions architecture
- Hands-on production experience with at least two of Databricks, Snowflake, or Fabric
- Delivered three or more enterprise lakehouse implementations in regulated industries
- Deep Azure cloud fluency including networking, identity, and Terraform or Bicep
- Experience leading executive technical conversations with CTOs or CISOs
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito, Bulk FHIR, or HL7
- Experience with Delta Sharing, Snowflake Reader Accounts, or Iceberg shortcuts
- Familiarity with HIPAA or HITRUST regulated environments and PHI segmentation
- Background in professional services or healthcare-focused consultancy
- Track record of architecting under time-boxed engagements of 8-10 weeks
