As a primary security partner for the Walrus team, you will provide deep architectural guidance and integrate security measures from the design phase onward. You will drive a security-by-design culture while collaborating with engineering leadership to balance feature velocity with platform security posture.
What you'll do
- Lead security assessments for new Walrus features and broader ecosystem initiatives
- Identify systemic risks and create remediation plans for complex architectural challenges
- Embed security considerations early in the design phase before code is written
- Use AI-driven tools and automation to handle routine security tasks efficiently
- Mentor engineers and establish technical direction for security standards
- Collaborate with leadership to prioritize security roadmap items
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of industry experience in security engineering
- Proven track record operating at Staff (E6) level or equivalent
- Generalist expertise across infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security
- Proficiency in building and managing automated security tooling
- Experience using AI/ML or advanced analysis to improve security outcomes
- Strong communication skills to influence technical direction
Nice to have
- Understanding of decentralized storage or distributed systems
- Familiarity with the Web3 stack
- Experience leading security-focused transformations
- Ability to balance hands-on work with strategic planning
