You will join the team responsible for Checkout, Post-Purchase, Smart Flows, and A/B Testing. Your work impacts what shoppers see during checkout on Shopify and the tools merchants use to run experiments. The team operates with high autonomy, solving problems across constrained Shopify runtimes, PHP services, and TypeScript APIs.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain Shopify checkout extensions within strict runtime limits
  • Redesign experimentation reporting data models and queries
  • Design secure REST APIs in PHP and TypeScript for internal services
  • Investigate production issues and improve logging and metrics
  • Perform own QA through unit and end-to-end testing
  • Mentor peers and review code across different system surfaces
  • Use AI coding tools daily for development and testing tasks

What you'll need

  • 8+ years building production web applications
  • Hands-on experience with PHP MVC frameworks and TypeScript React
  • Proven track record of staff-level technical ownership
  • Fluent daily use of AI coding tools with strong judgment
  • Experience with BigQuery analytical queries and MySQL schema design
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in unfamiliar codebases
  • Understanding of secure coding fundamentals and OWASP Top 10
  • Comfortable working in a remote-first, high-autonomy culture

Nice to have

  • Shopify app development experience
  • Familiarity with Preact
  • Experience with tightly constrained runtimes like React Native
  • Comfort moving between Kanban and Sprint workflows
