Join the AI team at Hims & Hers to evolve the platform that drives treatment recommendations and provider decision support. You will architect distributed systems and APIs that enable intelligent, personalized care at scale across multiple healthcare verticals.
This position requires balancing product delivery with long-term platform scalability. You will partner with machine learning engineers to productionize models and integrate LLM-powered applications into customer and provider workflows.
What you'll do
- Lead design of scalable backend systems and APIs for personalization
- Architect infrastructure for experimentation and recommendation engines
- Partner with ML engineers to productionize models and decisioning
- Build reliable, observable, and maintainable distributed systems
- Drive platform investments in self-service tooling and data pipelines
- Establish reusable patterns and best practices across engineering teams
- Evaluate and integrate emerging AI and LLM technologies
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership via design reviews
What you'll need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with production systems
- Strong expertise in backend engineering and distributed systems
- Proven success leading large technical initiatives across teams
- Experience building data-intensive apps with ML or recommendation systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern development practices
- Experience integrating ML models or LLM apps into production
- Familiarity with ML lifecycle concepts like training and monitoring
- Excellent collaboration skills across engineering and clinical stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with recommendation, ranking, or personalization platforms
- Background in healthcare, health tech, or regulated environments
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Databricks, MLflow, or Airflow
