You will design and evolve the core platform services, APIs, and shared primitives that power every product surface and AI agent at Fieldguide. This position requires acting as a technical leader to reduce complexity and accelerate delivery for enterprise customers.
The team focuses on creating reusable building blocks that allow product and AI engineers to solve hard problems efficiently. You will partner with leadership to translate customer needs into robust platform investments while maintaining high system reliability.
What you'll do
- Lead design of core platform services, APIs, and shared primitives
- Build reusable capabilities to leverage product and AI engineers
- Define architecture for SaaS, single-tenant, and government-cloud environments
- Partner with product and AI leaders to align platform investments
- Drive initiatives to improve velocity, reliability, and consistency
- Set standards for service design, data modeling, and integration patterns
- Maintain internal developer platform and deployment tooling
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers across the organization
What you'll need
- 10+ years in software engineering with platform focus
- Track record of shipping platform capabilities with customer impact
- Deep experience designing APIs and shared systems
- Fluency with AWS, Kubernetes, and distributed systems
- Experience leading technically across multiple teams
- Strong judgment on build versus buy decisions
- Ability to review complex codebases and maintain fundamentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience building platforms for AI-native products
- Knowledge of agent frameworks or LLM-powered surfaces
- Designing for both multi-tenant SaaS and single-tenant deployments
- Background as early platform engineer in vertical SaaS
