Join the core engineering team at Nango, a YC-backed company providing API access for AI agents and applications. You will own critical backend systems end-to-end, from design to implementation, while collaborating directly with developer customers to shape the product roadmap.
This role requires high ownership and autonomy as you optimize performance and reliability for an open-source platform used by hundreds of paying customers. You will help define company strategy and maintain strong relationships with the developer community.
What you'll do
- Design and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for the open-source platform
- Build developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime environments
- Collaborate directly with customers to resolve integration challenges
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across backend services
- Shape the product roadmap and company strategy through key technical decisions
- Engage with the open-source community by owning and maintaining the repository
What you'll need
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience for Staff level
- Proven ability to scale high-traffic systems effectively
- Deep experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, and databases
- Comfortable working with Node.js and modern backend stacks
- Strong communication skills and reliability in a remote-first environment
- Product mindset with a focus on optimizing developer experience
- Autonomous and able to navigate ambiguity in a startup setting
- Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe
