You will lead the development of Comfy's billing infrastructure, ensuring accurate metering for GPU compute and API usage. The team needs dependable systems for collecting payments, managing credits, and handling subscriptions as products and prices evolve.
Working with Go, PostgreSQL, and Temporal, you will design solutions that handle distributed system challenges like retries and partial failures. Your work will enable the company to launch new pricing models confidently while protecting against financial abuse.
What you'll do
- Build metering systems for GPU compute and partner model APIs
- Handle delayed events and retries to ensure accurate billing records
- Manage checkout, subscriptions, refunds, and failed-payment recovery
- Maintain consistency between Stripe, Metronome, and application state
- Create automated reconciliation checks for charges and credits
- Develop reusable pricing and entitlement systems for various customer tiers
- Implement spend controls and detect suspicious usage or fraud
- Build internal tools for Support and Finance to investigate charges
What you'll need
- Experience building and operating billing or payments systems in production
- Ownership of usage metering, credits, or consumption-based pricing
- Direct integration experience with Stripe including webhooks and failures
- Strong understanding of money handling in distributed systems
- Knowledge of idempotency, concurrency, and reconciliation logic
- Backend engineering skills with relational data modeling and APIs
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-engineering stakeholders
- Effective use of AI development tools with careful verification
Nice to have
- Experience with Metronome, Orb, or similar metering platforms
- Building durable workflows using Temporal
- Background in billing GPU infrastructure or model APIs
- Experience with spend limits and fraud defense mechanisms
- Improving international checkout and payment authorization rates
- Usage of ComfyUI or contributions to open source projects
