You will design and build the infrastructure that manages the lifecycle of curated blockchain datasets, handling dependency-aware orchestration and schema evolution. As a hybrid backend and data engineer, you will define system contracts and solve complex architectural problems to ensure reliable data delivery to institutional clients.
What you'll do
- Design the control plane for data lifecycle including orchestration, backfills, and recovery
- Decide architectural approach per dataset, choosing between models, services, or jobs
- Define contracts between ingestion and curation layers for end-to-end reasoning
- Build precise alerting and data quality signals to minimize on-call noise
- Break down large ambiguous problems into actionable tasks for the team
- Select appropriate tools from Go, Kotlin, Rust, Python, and SQL as needed
What you'll need
- Background as a backend engineer with deep data systems knowledge or vice versa
- Experience building or extending orchestration and scheduling systems at scale
- Proven ability to handle schema evolution and data correctness with downstream consumers
- Production experience with stateful stream processing frameworks
- Strong SQL and modeling skills with understanding of query engine execution
- Solid fundamentals in computer science and distributed systems
- Ability to debug independently and drive root cause analysis to resolution
- Effective written communication skills for distributed team collaboration
Nice to have
- Deep experience with transformation frameworks like dbt or SQLMesh
- Familiarity with data lake formats such as Parquet, Iceberg, or Deltalog
- Previous experience in a company where data is the core product
