Join the Developer Experience team at Docker to build backend systems that help developers secure and ship software confidently. You will work on Docker Scout and Hardened Images, using a polyglot stack including Clojure and Go while leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools.

As a Staff Engineer, you will lead cross-team efforts, define technical direction, and remain hands-on with code. The goal is to clarify system boundaries, reduce operational risk, and mentor senior engineers in a globally distributed, async-first culture.

What you'll do

  • Translate ambiguous problems into clear plans and measurable outcomes
  • Design and operate distributed services, APIs, and event pipelines
  • Lead cross-team delivery and remove technical or organizational blockers
  • Mentor senior engineers and improve design and code review quality
  • Stay hands-on with implementation, debugging, and on-call rotation

  • Track record of leading complex cross-team or cross-org initiatives
  • Operational mindset covering observability, resilience, and on-call
  • Comfort using AI-assisted engineering tools critically
  • Clear written and spoken communication for remote work

Nice to have

  • Production experience with Go, Clojure, or both
  • Experience with Spanner, Datomic, Kafka, or streaming platforms
