Join the Subscriptions and Membership Platform team at Hims & Hers to build web experiences that enhance patient retention and satisfaction. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own the architecture of core subscription systems, including billing and lifecycle management, while partnering with cross-functional teams to scale platform decisions.
What you'll do
- Lead design and architecture of scalable backend solutions
- Own core subscription and membership system architecture
- Manage billing correctness and lifecycle state workflows
- Mentor engineers on best practices and coding standards
- Partner with product and design for intuitive customer experiences
- Drive technical decisions for security and performance
- Implement monitoring tools and incident response processes
- Conduct code reviews and facilitate knowledge sharing
What you'll need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years in Staff Engineer or similar leadership role
- Proficiency in Spring, Java, Kotlin, and PostgreSQL
- Experience building platforms in AWS cloud environment
- Knowledge of React, NextJS, GraphQL, and TypeScript
- Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize projects without management oversight
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Nice to have
- Experience with Temporal for workflow building
- Familiarity with Datadog for monitoring
- Knowledge of Growthbook or Optimizely frameworks
- Experience with CircleCI or GitHub Actions CI/CD
