Join AeroVect as a Staff Software Engineer within the Localization team, where you will take deep ownership of critical workstreams in localization, mapping, and calibration. You will partner with perception and planning teams to advance autonomous ground operations from supervised modes to fully driverless systems at active airports.

Your work will directly impact how airlines and ground service providers operate, leveraging real-world data to ensure system integrity and safety. You will drive technical direction and solve complex estimation problems alongside senior engineers.

What you'll do

  • Own core areas like LiDAR-inertial-GNSS state estimation, 3D mapping, or sensor calibration
  • Drive localization stack to production reliability on real hardware at active airports
  • Design online validation tools to monitor localization integrity and detect drift
  • Develop diagnostics and health logging tooling for post-mission analysis
  • Contribute to regression testing and release-gating for localization changes
  • Partner across perception, planning, and platform interfaces to support driverless operations

What you'll need

  • 8+ years in robotics or autonomous vehicles with production deployment experience
  • Deep practical knowledge of multi-sensor fusion using LiDAR, IMU, GNSS, and cameras
  • Strong command of non-linear optimization libraries like Ceres, GTSAM, or g2o
  • Expertise in modern C++ (C++17+) with deep working experience in Linux and ROS/ROS2
  • Understanding of how calibration and localization errors impact the safety case
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Proven technical leadership in driving architecture and solving hard estimation problems

Nice to have

  • MS or PhD focused on localization, state estimation, or calibration
  • Hands-on experience with multi-sensor intrinsic, extrinsic, and temporal calibration
  • Experience with factor graphs, graph-based SLAM, or tools like GLIM and LIO-SAM
  • Background in building online monitoring and defining safety-relevant thresholds
  • Track record of advancing autonomous systems toward driverless operation
