Found builds financial tools that automate taxes and expense tracking for small business owners. The Platform team supports a 30+ person engineering organization by managing reliability, security, compliance, and developer tooling.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will balance speed with safety, focusing on SLOs and scaling systems. You will drive technical vision, mentor peers, and design fault-tolerant architectures that support tens of thousands of weekly users.
What you'll do
- Architect key systems like databases and distributed jobs for scale
- Design developer tooling for safer and reproducible deployments
- Drive observability excellence and guide incident response processes
- Collaborate with teams to address technical debt and platform upgrades
- Mentor engineers on designing reliable, fault-tolerant systems
What you'll need
- 8+ years of backend experience in public cloud environments
- Proven track record scaling and troubleshooting production systems
- Deep understanding of end-to-end request flow and system interactions
- Strong knowledge of SLAs, SLOs, and their implementation
- Experience managing tech debt across multiple engineering teams
Nice to have
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, Statsd, or Prometheus
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks like PCI and SOC2
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform
- Familiarity with Sidekiq, Redis, or async job processing
- Experience with mobile app infrastructure like React Native
