As BJAK scales its technology products across Southeast Asia, the company needs technical leaders to solve complex engineering challenges. The Technical Lead owns the execution and design of major systems, working directly on code while guiding the engineering team toward higher quality standards.
This position requires balancing speed, scalability, and reliability while turning ambiguous product needs into clear technical plans. You will collaborate with a distributed international team, ensuring robust architecture and strong development practices across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and initiatives
- Design scalable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure
- Write code, prototype, review peers, and debug production issues
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, cost, and reliability
- Translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical solutions
- Improve engineering quality via testing, security, and observability
- Lead critical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
What you'll need
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale environments
- Strong coding ability with a willingness to remain hands-on
- Track record of leading major projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and influence engineers
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
