As VP of AI Engineering, you will define engineering strategy, manage the development lifecycle, and balance experimental AI coding with production reliability.
What you'll do
- Guide engineering organizations with strategic oversight and steady leadership
- Define engineering strategy and adapt SDLC for the age of AI
- Oversee the internal dark software factory building 50+ tools
- Balance technical excellence with future-facing AI native positioning
- Replace external vendors with in-house solutions to improve margins
- Ensure operational excellence to prevent costly mistakes for customers
What you'll need
- Proven experience guiding engineering organizations
- Deep practical understanding of engineering strategy and SDLC
- Ability to work startup hours and maintain high energy
- Strong technical taste demonstrated through side projects
- Focus on tying technology to real business results
- Capability to hold opposing views on AI potential and current limitations
Nice to have
- Active engagement with tech talks and new building methods
- Experience with polyphasic sleep or intense work cycles
- Background in replacing vendor stacks with custom software
