You will partner directly with the CEO to define the operating system for a growing engineering organization. The focus is on removing bottlenecks, establishing lightweight coordination rhythms, and ensuring technical credibility through active involvement in architecture and code reviews.
This position balances people leadership with technical strategy, requiring you to protect the company's culture of speed and excellence while implementing structures that support sustainable growth.
What you'll do
- Scale engineering org from 40 to 80+ while preserving velocity and culture
- Design lightweight planning cadences and decision-making processes
- Identify and resolve top operational bottlenecks within six months
- Maintain technical credibility by staying close to code and architecture
- Lead cross-team initiatives and manage dependencies proactively
- Establish feedback loops including skip-levels and monthly retrospectives
What you'll need
- Experience scaling engineering organizations up to 100 people
- Proven ability to build operating systems without creating bureaucracy
- Deep hands-on technical depth in distributed systems and architecture
- Track record of managing complex cross-functional programs
- History of shipping high-impact projects quickly and effectively
- Strong collaboration skills with founders and hands-on leaders
