You will design, implement, and maintain resilient database architectures that support millions of users. Working closely with engineering teams, you will ensure data integrity, optimize query performance, and automate backup and recovery processes for both structured and unstructured data sources.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain high-performance database systems for large-scale applications
- Optimize queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning to enhance speed
- Monitor database health to ensure high availability and scalability
- Manage SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis
- Implement security policies, encryption, and access controls for data protection
- Automate backups, replication, and failover mechanisms
- Collaborate with developers on schema design and data modeling
- Perform capacity planning and monitor database growth trends
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data governance regulations
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Expertise in relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB
- Strong knowledge of optimization, indexing, partitioning, and replication
- Proven ability in performance tuning and troubleshooting slow queries
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience with cloud database services on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Proficiency in scripting for automation using Python, Bash, or SQL
- Understanding of data security best practices and encryption standards
- Ability to integrate databases into CI/CD workflows with DevOps teams
