You will engineer the durable execution layer, queueing system, and state stores that power Inngest. This position requires balancing generalist skills with deep specialization to handle terabytes of data and millions of requests per second.
The team focuses on creating novel solutions for developer workflows, prioritizing user experience and performance. You will collaborate closely with designers and founders to shape the product while managing complex distributed systems challenges.
What you'll do
- Architect solutions for queueing, state stores, and execution layers
- Optimize throughput and latency for high-volume request handling
- Contribute to systems architecture and infrastructure scaling strategies
- Expose internal data via metrics stores, APIs, and customer dashboards
- Design APIs for use across cloud dashboards, dev servers, and CLIs
- Test the product internally to identify improvements and new features
- Engage with users through GitHub, email, and Discord channels
- Write technical specifications and user-facing documentation
What you'll need
- Several years of experience working on distributed systems
- Two or more years using Go or similar statically typed languages
- Proven track record designing systems that handle significant scale
- Ability to evaluate engineering trade-offs and make sound judgments
- Experience observing, monitoring, and maintaining designed systems
- Strong appreciation for simplicity in system design and implementation
Nice to have
- Experience with compliance standards like SOC2, ISO27001, or HIPAA
- Solid understanding of networking principles and practices
- Background in SRE roles involving system management and maintenance
