You will build and lead a new engineering team focused on authentication, authorization, and member management within the Pliant platform. Starting with a mix of existing and new engineers, you will balance leadership duties with up to 50% hands-on development before transitioning to a primarily managerial focus.
The team works on secure, scalable architecture for commercial card issuing and spend management. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineering leaders to define roadmaps, drive execution, and maintain high standards for automated testing and continuous deployment.
What you'll do
- Lead and develop a high-performing interdisciplinary engineering team
- Contribute up to 50% hands-on code during the initial phase
- Mentor engineers through regular feedback and performance reviews
- Collaborate with product and design teams to align on business goals
- Guide technical discussions and steer release timelines
- Set and track quarterly team OKRs with the product manager
- Promote best practices like test-driven development and automation
What you'll need
- 7+ years of software development experience with Java/Kotlin
- 2+ years of experience in engineering leadership or management
- Strong background in distributed and maintainable backend systems
- Prior experience with authentication and authorization topics
- Deep understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive project completion
