You will lead the Platform Core team, which provides the cloud foundation for Pliant's engineering organization. Your focus is on managing the team and defining the roadmap for infrastructure tools, ensuring they serve internal developers effectively rather than acting as a bottleneck.
Key technical initiatives include finalizing the migration from ECS to Kubernetes and maintaining robust IAM and networking standards. You will collaborate with security teams to embed compliance into the platform and scale the group as the company grows.
What you'll do
- Define and own the roadmap for Terraform infrastructure, AWS accounts, and networking.
- Treat Platform Core as an internal product, ensuring guardrails aid rather than hinder teams.
- Collaborate with Security Engineering to embed access controls and compliance early.
- Drive the completion of the compute migration from ECS/Fargate to Kubernetes.
- Manage team growth through hiring, performance reviews, and regular one-on-ones.
- Coordinate with future SRE teams and other platform functions during scaling.
What you'll need
- 7–10 years in software or infrastructure engineering with at least 3 years managing teams.
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform, multi-account AWS, and container compute.
- Proven track record of running infrastructure as an internal platform for other engineers.
- Experience hiring and developing engineers, including promoting staff members.
- Strong background in observability tools like Datadog at scale.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or Cursor.
- Clear communication skills for technical, cross-functional audiences.
