You will own the product vision for the exchange layer, including the matching engine, core infrastructure, custody, algo engine, and API engine. This position focuses on consolidating vertically integrated products into a single, interface-agnostic stack that serves all Kraken interfaces.
Leading a small team of product managers, you will define success metrics like latency and throughput while partnering with engineering and risk teams. The goal is to sequence migrations without disrupting live markets and enable unified client accounts across products.
What you'll do
- Own product vision and roadmap for matching engine, core infra, custody, and APIs
- Lead and mentor a team of four to five product managers
- Consolidate multiple matching engines into one unified stack
- Build interface-agnostic platforms for internal product teams
- Define and track metrics such as p99 latency, throughput, and uptime
- Partner with engineering leaders to sequence migration without market disruption
- Collaborate with Risk and Credit teams to unify client accounts
- Align cross-functional teams around the overall exchange strategy
What you'll need
- Senior product leader with experience in exchanges or high-performance platforms
- Proven track record managing and developing product managers
- Willingness to act as a player-coach, writing specs and owning roadmaps
- Strong understanding of matching engine and market data architecture
- Experience building platforms for internal customers rather than bespoke builds
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for crypto markets and next-generation infrastructure
Nice to have
- Engineering background with experience building or operating high-performance systems
- Experience across both spot and derivatives venues
- Previous time at a crypto exchange with comparable scale and uptime expectations
- Track record of building platform roadmaps that interlock with adjacent orgs
