Join Bedrock to map the unseen world beneath our oceans using some of the highest-resolution seafloor data available. You will process and analyze data from field tests and commercial operations, providing rapid feedback on quality. This position blends technical analysis with client education, helping customers interpret complex ocean data.

You will collaborate with leadership and engineering to define uncertainty and accuracy standards for government policies. The ideal candidate is curious, learns quickly, and enjoys explaining data value to clients rather than working in isolation.

What you'll do

  • Perform first-pass analysis of MBES, SSS, magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler data
  • Provide rapid, iterative feedback on data quality rather than seeking immediate perfection
  • Identify artifacts and anomalies to determine their cause in vehicle or survey plans
  • Create data products and written reports for commercial clients
  • Serve as primary contact for data quality issues and interpretation discussions
  • Educate clients on AUV data value, limitations, and uncertainty trade-offs
  • Contribute to defining ocean data standards for government policy and guidelines
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve vehicles and workflows

What you'll need

  • Experience processing at least two sensor types: MBES, SSS, magnetometer, or sub-bottom
  • Proficiency with commercial software such as Qimera, Seaview, SonarWiz, or Radex
  • Comfort using ArcGIS, QGIS, and/or AutoCAD for spatial data work
  • Proven experience writing data reports for commercial clients
  • Strong attention to detail to spot subtle artifacts others might miss
  • Ability to learn fast and ask clarifying questions when uncertain
  • Comfortable interacting directly with customers and explaining technical concepts
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends during survey campaigns

Nice to have

  • Experience across all four relevant sensor types
  • Light coding skills in Python or SQL
  • Offshore experience with ship or AUV operations
  • Certified Hydrographer (Cat A/B) or Licensed Surveyor status
  • Background in defense, energy, or environmental survey sectors

Stack

  • Qimera
  • Seaview
  • SonarWiz
  • Radex
  • ArcGIS
  • QGIS
  • AutoCAD
  • Python
  • SQL

How you'll work

  • Role requires some nights and weekends around survey campaigns
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Salary range higher for San Francisco and New York locations

What you get

  • Annual salary between $95,000 and $130,000
  • Equity compensation included
