Join ButterflyMX as a Principal Engineer who uses AI agents, particularly Claude Code, to drive software development. You will partner with Product and Design to translate business needs into secure, production-ready applications, managing the entire lifecycle with minimal oversight.
The ideal candidate combines deep backend expertise with advanced AI orchestration skills, ensuring high-quality output while automating repetitive engineering tasks. You will work across our core stack and adjacent technologies to improve legacy systems and deliver new features efficiently.
What you'll do
- Translate business requirements into technical specs and implementation plans
- Orchestrate multiple Claude Code agents to execute parallel workstreams
- Own products end-to-end from design through deployment and operation
- Review AI-generated code for quality, security, and maintainability
- Automate portions of the development lifecycle including testing and CI/CD
- Collaborate with Product and Design to refine user workflows and constraints
- Manage infrastructure and deployment workflows across cloud environments
What you'll need
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Expert-level proficiency with Claude Code for product development
- Production experience with TypeScript/Node.js and Ruby on Rails
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and relational databases
- Experience deploying services on AWS and/or GCP
- Track record of integrating AI/ML models or agentic systems in production
- Strong ability to critique and improve AI-generated code outputs
- Authorization to work in the United States is required
