Join Higharc's Special Projects team to conduct foundational research in spatial AI for the homebuilding industry. You will create novel approaches combining reinforcement learning, computer vision, large language models, and 3D geometry to solve unique construction challenges.
The position requires designing end-to-end training pipelines, extracting semantic structure from architectural inputs, and building retrieval-augmented generation systems. You will define benchmarks and deliver research outputs ready for integration into the company's AI platform.
What you'll do
- Conduct original research in spatial reasoning for residential construction
- Design end-to-end LLM training and fine-tuning pipelines for construction domains
- Apply computer vision to extract semantic structure from architectural inputs
- Develop RL-based approaches for generative architectural design
- Build RAG systems to ground LLM outputs in construction knowledge bases
- Define domain-specific benchmarks and build ground-truth datasets
- Deliver documented model artifacts and serving-ready pipelines for integration
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 2+ years directly on LLM development, fine-tuning, or applied ML systems
- Hands-on experience with HuggingFace Transformers and PyTorch
- Practical experience with RAG architectures and vector databases
- Experience with 3D modeling, computational geometry, or computer graphics
- Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with React/TypeScript
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field
Nice to have
- Ph.D. focused on model research and pre-training
- Open-source contributions or published research
- Familiarity with BIM tools like Revit or AutoCAD
- Knowledge of BIM data formats such as IFC or gbXML
- Experience with Three.js or equivalent 3D frameworks
