Join the Database Operations team at ClickUp to ensure the reliability and integrity of PostgreSQL databases running on Linux within AWS. You will handle day-to-day administration, operational excellence, and proactive maintenance for systems managing over 250GB of data.
This position requires strong expertise in database security, backup procedures, and performance tuning. You will collaborate with application teams to support deployments and troubleshoot issues while maintaining comprehensive documentation.
What you'll do
- Administer and monitor PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS, Aurora, and EC2 environments
- Perform routine maintenance including patching, upgrades, vacuuming, and reindexing
- Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures with regular testing
- Handle user access, roles, and security compliance for database systems
- Execute capacity planning, storage management, and growth forecasting
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, locking issues, and failed jobs
- Support application teams with query tuning and schema changes
- Participate in on-call rotations to address production incidents
What you'll need
- 7+ years of experience in senior database administration or engineering
- Strong hands-on PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning skills
- Experience managing large-scale production databases exceeding 250GB
- Solid Linux administration skills covering processes, disk, and networking
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages like Bash or Python
- Familiarity with AWS cloud deployments including RDS, Aurora, and S3
- Understanding of database security, access control, and compliance
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining operational documentation
Nice to have
- Experience with database auditing or governance frameworks
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipelines
- Knowledge of high availability setups and replication management
- Exposure to MySQL, SQL Server, or NoSQL platforms
- Background supporting enterprise or highly regulated environments
