You will lead a small, senior team of five frontend engineers within the Engineering Foundations organization. Your focus is on owning the vision for Headway's UI, evolving the Helix design system, and establishing web architecture standards that enable product teams to ship faster.
The role requires close collaboration with Design leadership to set the roadmap without a dedicated product manager. You will drive the integration of agentic engineering workflows, ensuring AI agents can build UI components that meet strict quality and accessibility standards.
What you'll do
- Hire, grow, and manage performance for a team of five senior frontend engineers
- Define strategy for design systems, web architecture, and agentic UI workflows
- Collaborate with Design leadership to evolve the Helix design system
- Set standards for accessibility, performance, testing, and maintainability
- Build automated checks and guardrails for AI-generated frontend code
- Grow the frontend guild and translate engineer feedback into roadmap items
- Stay hands-on with code, PRs, and AI tools during initial months
What you'll need
- Background as a senior or staff frontend engineer with deep React experience
- Experience leading frontend platform, design system, or web architecture teams
- At least three years of experience managing engineers directly
- Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools in recent projects
- Ability to align multiple product teams with competing priorities
- Strong partnership skills with Design leaders and understanding of their workflows
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with weekly or monthly plans
