Join the engineering team at Social News Desk to build and maintain core user interfaces for social media management solutions. You will work on server-side rendered applications, ensuring reliability and performance for news organizations and public institutions.

As a senior individual contributor, you will own production features and provide technical direction to one or two other developers. The role requires close collaboration with product managers to deliver end-to-end features.

What you'll do

  • Own and maintain production web experiences for customers
  • Build SSR and SSG pages using Next.js or similar frameworks
  • Implement responsive and accessible UIs in React
  • Integrate frontend with Node.js and AWS backend services
  • Break down feature work and guide junior developers
  • Enforce accessibility standards like ARIA and keyboard navigation
  • Participate in code reviews and define architectural patterns

What you'll need

  • At least five years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency with React.js and component libraries
  • Proven experience with SSR frameworks such as Next.js
  • Experience building or extending design systems
  • Strong skills in responsive and accessible UI development
  • Ability to integrate with RESTful APIs in JS/TS environments
  • Capacity to take ownership of production features and services

Nice to have

  • Experience with social media platform APIs and webhooks
  • Familiarity with AWS serverless tools like Lambda and API Gateway
  • Background in real-time features using WebSockets or socket.io
  • Previous work in SaaS, B2B, or public-sector products
